One of the beat thing you can do to gain attention of your audience for first 30 seconds is to do some unexpected thing in you lr speech like use a loud noise or a clap or a picture of something that make people to use their mind in the initial stage. Second thind you can do is make a relevant story that can connect people with that so that they can mentally be engaged to your speech. Do not start by background information of your topic that can lead people to loose attentions from the speech as they expect it to happen. Do or say something that is interesting and as well as related to the topic and that can engage people with you in the speech.
