Intern: A person who can be a student associate with organisation inorder to gather work experience, sometimes as a part of his course curriculum.

Intern can be paid or non paid It depends on kind of work the person is associated with. USDOL clearly stated in the labour practise if an intern is used for generating some direct revenue he is entitled to get some stipend or small share of it. many companies wont follow such practise and they ignore paying to interns. An intern just for supporting some activities may not get paid, but direct if involved or activeley participated in such projects has the right to get stipent out of it.
