Question
John Cheng is a Ph.D. food scientist at a large branded foods firm. He has entrepreneurial aspirations, however, and while working at home on weekends has developed a new packaged dry snack product for the retail food industry. He believes that its attributes, which include organic ingredients and unique packaging that uses recycled components, will be particularly attractive to certain types of consumers However, John does not have much information about who these buyers might be or how he should market his new product to them. In fact, he has conducted no research at all so far, other than providing himself and his immediate family with samples that he has made. They did indicate that "it tasted good," but nothing beyond that. Mr. Cheng has asked you, a trusted friend who is an expert in marketing, to give him advice on what he should do. What would you recommend that he do?Explanation / Answer
The snack that Dr. John Cheng has prepred is a differentiate good among all the already availbale snack in the market.
Also, when his product was reviewed by his immediate family and himself, the snack is good in taste as well as it is organic . Basically the quality that he offers is high. Also ,the packging is friendly and attractive which also play an import role in attracting customers.
So, I would suggest that he should launch this proudct. first, he should colaborate with some local Supermarkets and distribute the samples in all of the supermarkets within reach. Though these samples consumers will be able to get an idea of the taste and quality of the product. After this when his snack gets some populariity locally, he can totally go for hunting bigger chunk of demand.
