CPA certification to remain active requires 40 hours of continuing education each year that includes 8 hours of accounting and auditing education and 8 hours of ethics. The training keeps me up on current events in taxes, accounting and ethics and also provides networking opportunities as much of the education is provided by professional organizations such as the American Bankers Association and the Tax Executives Institute. The information keeps me up-to-date on all of the newest developments to ensure that I can properly do my job. having a cpa has helped obtain respect from outside sources and has helped frame how you analyze a business and communicate financial information. in the competitive world, the cpa makes it easier to get in the door for the interview. the cpa will help measure you against other unknown candidates. a definite and must in todays competitive world. yes (state society and roundtables) and it is well advised to network and keep in the network of professionals in the same field. this is sometimes hard to find in accounting field.
