Explanation / Answer
Smoking leads to potential hazard for smoker as well as the people surounding them. The effects of smoking has been found to be life threathening. Inspite of knowing the side effects of smoking and adopting various health promotion interventions, the people are still continuing to smoke. But with the adoption of various laws and health promotion programs, the prevalence of smoking among youngsters and adults have been found to be reduced. The hospital admissions due to the diseases caused by smoking has also declined.
Although the current tobacco legislation have contribute a lot towards reduction in incidences of smoking and to develop smoke free environment but still people need more stringent regulations to achieve a complete smoke free area and to reduce the mortality related to smoking. The measures like banning of menthol cigarettes, carrying the images on cigarette packs of the graphic effects of smoking on the body will encourage people to quit smoking. Strict rules on purchasing of e-cigarettes should be passed so that the source of cigarette is not easily accessible. Awareness among the youngsters and adults regarding harm effect of smoking should be generated even in remote areas with use of social medias. Joint efforts of people, community and government will help to minimize the issue of smoking and smoke related mortality and morbidity.
