Question
A part of an mRNA molecule with the following sequence is being read by a ribosome: 5'- CCG-ACG-3'. The following charged tRNA molecules are available. Two of them can correctly match the mRNA so that a dipeptide can form tRNA Anticodon 3'-GGC-5' 3'- CGU -5' 3'- UGC -5' 3'- CCG -5' 3'-ACG-5' 3'- CGG -5 Amino Acid proline alanine threonine glycine cysteine alanine The dipeptide that will form will be Select one: alanine-alanine glycine-cysteine proline-threonine cysteine-alanine threonine-glycineExplanation / Answer
For codons 5' CCG-ACG 3' the respective anticodons are 3' GGC UGC 5'... so for proline the the anticodon on tRNA is GGC and for threonine the anticodon on tRNA is UGC.. so these amino acid containing tRNAs attach to mRNA in their respective positions by pairing in 5' to 3' direction so proline- threonine is the dipeptide which is formed as a result.
