42. In the light reactions of p hotosynthesis, photosystem I is capable of performing the cyelic AND non- this? (ays: What is the benefit of this versatility? That is, WHY would photosystem I need to be able 43 free energy time Using a set of axes like those drawn here, draw a graph illustrating how the free energy of a system would change: a) over the course of an uncatalyzed spontaneous reaction b) over the course of the same reaction, but catalyzed by an enzyme Be sure to also label the AG and EA for both a) and b). (8 points)Explanation / Answer
Photosynthesis is an important process in plants that help them to synthesise their food in the presence of sunlight.This process can take place only in presence of pigment called chlorophyll which absorb the light energy and synthesise ATP and NADPH.
Photosynthesis can takes place through two steps. During first step chloroplast absorb sunlight in presence of water and produce oxygen. During second step carbon di oxide is used and produces glucose.
6Co2+6H20 ------------> C6H12O6+6O2
photosynthesis comprises Light reaction and Calvin cycle.
Light reaction involves the absorption of sunlight by chlorophyll pigment and this energy is then transferred to two molecules of ATP and NADPH which is used to synthesise glucose during Calvin Cycle.
Plant organize their photosynthetic pigment inin two complexes called Photosystem1 and ii. Both of them contains pigments where photosystem i called P700 and photosystem ii called p680.
