PLEASE TYPE YOUR ANSWER which covers three different parts:
fill the blanks and explain your answers
A) Enzymes that are constantly being synthesized are referred to as…...(Constitutive, Inducible, Repressible) explain
B) In E. coli the group of genes that controls tryptophan synthesis is called the trpoperon. If tryptophan is added to a culture of E. coli, the trp operon is turned off. Therefore the genes that code for tryptophan are which word in parenthesis…...?( Constitutive, Inducible, Repressible) explain
C) Explain Compare and contrast constitutive, inducible, and repressible enzymes.
Explanation / Answer
Hello,
A) Constitutive - These enzymes are continuosly produced at a constant rate. This is because they are essential to maintain cell`s process.
B) Repressible - In trpoperon tryptophan is normally produced but when its produced in excess then it itself acts as a repressor and turns off the operon
C) Constitutive enzymes are those which are continuosly produced at a constant rate and are not regulated
Inducible enzymes are those which are produced only when required by the cell. Addition of a molecule or drug would bring about the necessary change required.
Repressible enzymes are those which are constitutively produced unless its production is repressed by an inhibitor.
