ecology please and thank you
1.

unities are also impacted by atmospheric pollution, particularly nitrogen that atmosphere into the soil. A desire to understand the impacts of nitrogen ts where researchers add nitrogen at different plots and observe any changes in plant cover, species 5. Vegetation comm deposition has led to numerous experimen concentrations to vegetation study group mortality. The figure below (from Valliere et al. 2017) shows the C control) or with percentage of shrub mortality under severe drought conditions either without nitrogen deposition (L = low N concentration, M = medium N conc., H high N conc.). (b) 75 N: Fax#6 75" 50 AB 25 Nitrogen treatment a) Based on the figure above, what effect will an increase in N deposition likely have on shrub abundance in this dryland? b) Remember that the above figure is from a study that added nitrogen during a severe drought. Based on the figure, what appears to be the baseline effect of drought on shrub mortality and what effect are more frequent droughts likely to have on shrub cover?

Explanation / Answer

a) Increase in N abundance in dryland increase a shrub mortality and decrease abundance of shrub. According to this figure there is a significant increase in mortality % at high nitrogen deposition which indicate gradual increase in shrub mortality.

b) More frequent draught cause global change and increase vegitation mortality means it increase shrub mortality. Draught decrease shrub mortality that effect further compounded by nitrogen deposition means increase shrub mortality. In the draught condition , in control group there is a a 40% mortality of shrub which further enhanced by N2 deposition.
