Dysregulation of cell-cycle is the main characteristic of tumor cells. The ability of normal cells to undergo cell-cycle arrest after damage to DNA is crucial for the maintenance of genomic integrity. The biochemical pathways which inhibit and finally stop the cell cycle in response to cellular stressors are called checkpoints. Tumorigenesis is done by the defective checkpoint function which results in genetic modification. Chemotherapy which is also called chemo , is a way to treat the cancer or tumour cells by using drugs. It targets cells that grow and divide quickly, as cancer cells do. Unlike radiation or surgery, which target specific areas, chemo can work throughout your body. But it can also affect some fast-growing healthy cells, like those of the skin, hair, intestines, and bone marrow.
