The Nowire Telecommunications Corporation (Nowire) is developing a hyper-speed wireless (HSW) network based on a proprietary innovation that requires the acquisition and deployment of 3 geosynchronous satellites and several distributed Earth Nodes (ENs). The development of the hardware and software for the Nowire network would take 4 years of R&D; at a cost of $80M distributed as follows: $10M in year 1, $20M in year 2, $20M in year 3 and $30M in year 4. Further, it is expected that $20M of startup expenses will be required in year 5. The satellites will be deployed at the end of year 4 at a cost of $300M, including orbit insertion. An EN costing $2M will be required for every 10,000 subscribers served.
