(a) Fill in the following calculations from the Diet log above: (2 pts)

Total Caloric intake:              ________

Total Carbohydrate intake:     ________

Total Fat intake:                     ________

Total Protein intake:               ________

(b) Calculate the amount of calories from carbohydrates, fat, and protein from the Diet log above. (multiply # of nutrient from above by either 4 or 9) (3 pts)

                        Total carbohydrates _________ g    x   4 kcal/g = _________ kcal

                                            Total fat ________ g    x   9 kcal/g = _________ kcal

                                     Total protein ________ g   x   4 kcal/g = __________kcal

(c) Calculate the percentage of calories from carbs, fats, and proteins as compared to overall caloric intake. (4 pts)

For example, if you found that 900 kcal came from carbohydrates, and the total caloric intake of that person was 2500 kcal – you would divide 900 into 2500, then multiply by 100 to get 36%.

900kcal / 2500 = .36               *Therefore, carbohydrates made up 36% of that

                                    .36 x 100 = 36%                      persons total diet

Using the numbers you just calculated from part b:

            Calories from Carbs    ________ /   Total calories ________ = _________ x 100 = _________ %

            Calories from Fats      ________   / Total calories ________ = _________ x 100 = _________ %

            Calories from Protein ________   / Total calories ________ = _________ x 100 = _________ %

(*fill these numbers into the table below)
