4. Maintenance of health due to nutrients inadequacy is doubtful but taking too much vitamins for longer times may be harmful for you because as we know that vitamins are needed in very small amount. They can not be stored in the body but some fat soluble vitamins like vitamin A can be stored in liver and this stored vitamin can damage the liver. So a Mega dose of some fat soluble vitamins can accumulate and reach upto the toxic level and cause liver damage. Particular care is needed when we take multivitamin mineral supplements. So this hypothesis can be improved by indicating the name of particular vitamins and minerals or by avoiding those vitamins that can cause harmful side effects after accumulation. Two recently published studies suggest that multivitamin and minerals supplement can do more harm then good. One study suggests that excess dose of Vitamin E causes prostate cancer.
