The cost refers to the amount of money to move employees to safer areas around the world. Company's satisfaction refers to backlash from the media and the public because of their very high reputation. Ease of implementation refers to how difficult it will be to go through the interview process again and move the equipment. Executive Summary

The Old Monterey Business Association (OMBA) is committed to stimulating and encouraging the development of economic vitality in downtown Monterey, while simultaneously building a greater sense of community. Recently due to the national economic down turn OMBA has been faced with the challenge of successfully continuing to develop economic growth. Consequently this report will present three possible options to do this. The three options are: Conference Center Renovation Mixed Housing Incorporation Transportation Accommodations Option one, conference room renovation, will renovate downtown Monterey’s existing conference room. Major upgrades to the conference room would be made to meet current organization’s gathering needs for conferences. In order to do this the already made plans by the city of Monterey would be encouraged to be acted upon by the City. Option two, mixed housing incorporation, will use existing vacant upstairs spaces of business properties across downtown Monterey and transform them in residential living spaces. The spaces would be turned into upscale studios and apartments or low cost living units for employees of businesses. Doing so would increase the sense of community in downtown Monterey and improve the overall safety of businesses. Option three, transportation accommodations, will improve the ease of getting around in downtown Monterey. In efforts to do this many of the downtown one-way streets like Alvarado Street would be made into a two way streets. Bike routes would be made to serve as an alternative means of transportation for local residents. In order to evaluate each option the following four options will be used. Criteria include: Cost Productivity Ease of implementation Timeliness Cost refers to the amount of money that will need to be put into an option in order to fund the option. Productivity refers to the rate of output from each individual option. Ease of implementation refers to the amount of difficultly that it will take to make the option into a reality. Timeliness refers to the amount of time needed to start and finish the option. Option one has the advantage of productivity. Renovating the existing conference room would guarantee customers once the conference room is rented out after the renovation. This option has three disadvantages: cost, ease of implementation, and timeliness. In order to completely renovate the existing conference room additional funding would be needed in order to obtain these funds grants would be needed. Obtaining the grants alone would slow down the process to begin renovating; the actual renovation would also take up to eight months. Option two also has three advantages: cost, ease of implementation, and timeliness. The cost of converting upstairs businesses spaces into living is substantially less than any of the other option. Having it be cheaper to fund makes it a lot easier to implement mixed housing into downtown. Doing each individual conversion at an individual time would allow for the least disturbance to the general public and would make it the fastest option to finish. Option two has the disadvantage of not being very productive. The initial benefits to business owner will not be in the form of additional revenue. Option three has an advantage in terms of productivity. In order to have people shop or spend money on services in downtown, they first have to be able to get to their location. Simplifying and improving current transportation options would dramatically improve the economic vitality of downtown. Option three has three disadvantages: cost, ease of implementation, and timeliness. In order to complete the necessary changes needed to complete option three would cost millions of dollars. Obtaining such funds would be extremely difficult and would take a long time. The actual remodeling of downtown streets would take up to a year. All of the suggested options meet the criteria in different ways and in various levels. Option two fulfills cost, ease of implementation, and timeliness. This option will not be as beneficial as any of the other options initially but the additional income from renting unused spaces will benefit each business in the long run.
