There can be 3 objective of a project:

Whichever is more importaint we need to put more weitage to the same and try to fulfil the same within the constrain. For Example Lets take the project to be Cost Critical i.e we need to cpmplete the project within the given budget. No more funds can be allocated to the project or if allocated also it will result in a loss of the project..

So to keep the project within budget we need to focus more on preventing the Cost Creep. Tracking the financials more often. Cutting on the Resource and quality costs whereever possible e.t.c

We can use a SWOT analyse to analyse the health of the project on any stage.

Benchmarking plays a very importaint role through the lifecycle of a project.  It is best to decide on those few critical success factors that must go right for your business to flourish. For project management benchmarking, the critical success factors are usually the key business processes and how they are integrated. If these key success factors do not exist, then the organization’s efforts may be hindered.
