Cargill is one of the world's largest companies in the world. With being a huge company and a company who ships resources, location is a major aspect of their business.As Cargill has so much production and resources, they need a large area of space to hold everything. For example, Cargill needed more space in Brazil to hold some of their grain resources. Instead of building a silo, in a mere two years, deforestation doubled in the country. One strategy that cargill could implement for this issue to create a better plan therefore they will not have hold invenotry for very long. That way that will not need as much space because the inventory in hold will be used more. Another sollution for this issue is to find another location to hold the inventory. Cargill could find another location in Brazil to hold their inventory, rather than just make new space by cutting down trees. Finally, the last solution for Cargill is to find a eco-friendly way to hold their inventory. This could mean holding their inventory at different location but it would be much safer for the environment.

Another issue with Cargill is human rights. In 2005, Cargill was sued on behalf of childern who were forced to work fourteen hours a day, no pay, and little food or sleep. This is a huge issue in the eyes of the United States and Cargill needs to overcome this to survive. The first stragety that Cargill could create, is to operate only out of the United States. Cargill could still export gloabally but by only having workers in the United States, Cargill could ensure their safety. Another stragety that Cargill could create is to have monthly inspecations by trained managers. Through these inspections, Cargill could see the good and bad of their safetly procedures. Finally the last stragtegy would be to simply hire full time safety supervisoers. These supervisors would work everyday to ensure everyone's safety and improve in any areas.

All these are just a few of Cargill's issues, there are many more ethical issues that Cargill is apart of. The best way to solve all of these ethical issues together, would be to bring in brand new management and top executives to totally rebrand the Cargill company.

Explanation / Answer

The ethical behavior of a corporate is equally important as the other critical business issues and it should be the part of the strategy of the top management. As the company is facing multiple ethical issues from all areas of the business than somewhere its failure of the top management, may be they are not able to tackle the problem or not understanding the severity of the issue and damaging the brand image of the company. Maintaining a brand image is also very important as the company’s long term growth is dependent on it. In my opinion bringing a new management and top executives to totally rebrand the Cargill company is the right strategy for the company. It will send the good massage about the company to its stakeholders.

Apart from that a clear policy and procedure about the company’s ethical norms and its commitment to follow them should be clearly communicated to the consumers of the company to rebuild the trust.
