What measures will you take as the team leader to ensure a smooth functioning of this virtual team from Day-1?

As a team leader of a virtual team my strategy from day-1 will be following-

1. Establishing a clear goals for team members: from day -1, I will try to set a clear and well written goals for my team members and I will also make a periodic review of it. Setting an accountability and clear job role of each team members will be my priority.

2. Knowing the team members as much as possible: I will try my best possible to know the strengths and weaknesses of my team members so that I can assign the right person for the right job at the right time in the right place.

3. Setting the well defined Rules: It is better to define acceptable manners, protocols and expectations of team members to avoid any confusion in the future.

4. Building trust: Trust is very important specially if a team working for a common goal and remote locations and the responsibility of team leader is more. Team leaders should initiate with setting am example my themselves and team members will definitely follow the trend.

5. Periodic performance review: Define the rule of tracking goals, accomplishing results, recognizing the team effort and motivating for better performance to the virtual team.

6. Periodic training and workshops for the virtual team: it is very important to have a periodic training programs and workshops for virtual team members. It will help them in better team building by knowing the team better.
