Two kinds of farms are exist in the U.S. One is the factory farm which focuses on profit and doesn't care about animals. The other one is the local farms (humane farm) which thinks about animals as well as profits. In polls, 94% of Americans agree that animals raised for food deserve to live free from abuse and cruelty. Yet the majority of the nearly 10 billion farm animals raised each year in the U.S. suffer in conditions that consumers would not accept if they could see them. In this report, we compare the factory and local farms animal treatments. Factory farm Over 99% of farm animals in the U.S. are raised in factory farms. Factory farms don't treat animals very well: animals live in small rooms, eat low quality food, and have bad living conditions. This happens in factory farms because their purpose is making profit and efficiency Limitation/Diet and health/Living conditions Factory farms' animals live in cages and crates that don't have enough space. Animals cannot lay down, stretch out, and walk around, so it is very uncomfortable. Some animals live in the cages for their whole lives. This is very stressful for animals. Also, the cages are very dirty because farmers don't clean them as often as they should. The floor animals eat their own feces because the room is too small is muddy and nasty, which is not healthy for animals. In fact, some It might surprise you when you look what ingredients are used in feed for factory farms' animals. According to, Organic Consumers Association, the animals are fed meat from same species, diseased animals, feathers, hair, skin, hooves, blood, manure, other animal waste, plastics, drugs, chemicals, and unhealthy amounts of grains. Of course, they are not healthy or appropriate foods for animals. In fact, some of them are not even edible. However, these ingredients are legal to feed animals in the U.S. Also, some animals don't get enough feed, and they are always hungry. This causes animal's mental problem such as stress. On the other hand, American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals explains that It takes 16 weeks to raise a chicken 2.5 lbs in 1925, but now 5 lbs. in 6 weeks." This means some chickens are fed around the clock to grow them fast. In fact, some farms use medicines to grow chickens However, heavy weights pressure chickens' organs and bones, and they cannot move or lay down easily. It is very painful for them. Additionally, as I mentioned before, they live in limited space. Tight space cause numerous physical ailments as well.
