Question

Please help me answer these questions with an explanation that has as much detail as possible! If you can could you also explain how misconceptions (regarding how one could confuse the problem to mean something other than asked) could arise from any of these? Thank you so much! :) Describe Morgan's experiments that showed a connection between a genetic trait and the inheritance of a sex chromosome in Drosophila Describe the statistical variables and role in studying quantitative traits. Describe the initiation of DNA synthesis in bacteria and eukaryotes. Using the pedigree below, determine the probability of III-3 having three children that consist of an affected daughter, an unaffected daughter, and an unaffected son

Explanation / Answer

1)morgan experiment

Morgan has noticed a white eyed drosophila melanogester instead of regular red eyed. So in order to find out the pattern of its inheritance he designed an experiment in 1910.

Firstly he crossed the pure white eye male with the pure red eye female . And as expected the progeny of F1 generation were red eyed. Now he again crossed the F1progeny with it self and as a result the ratio of red eye progeny to white eye progeny was 3: 1 in F2 generation. But he also noticed one thing that no female was white eyed in this generation. So in order to understand it further , he again done a cross between heterozygous red eye female and white eyed male .This time it gave a ratio of 1:1:1:1(1 white eyed female, 1 red eye female,o1 white eye male , 1red eye male). This has led the Morgan to think about the linkage between traits and sex chromosomes.later on , he also perfiperf several more crosses which led him to the conclusion that the eye colour gene was situated on X chromosome.

2)The E.coli DNA replication process known as Ori.c, consist of 245 no , the main sequence for this are 2 series of short repeats there repeats of 13 base pair sequence and four repeats of a 9 bp sequence.

At least 8 different enzyme or protein participate in initiation phase of replication, they open the DNA helix at the original and make a preparing complex that sets the condition for next reaction

The other important component in initiation is Dna. A protein .A complex of about 20 Dna.A molecule binds to 9 bp repeats in ori. This reaction in ATP dependent and felicitated by bacterial histone like protein HU , the Dna.A recognises and successfully denatures in the region of there 13 BP repeat having high concentration of A and T bond.Than Dna, B which is helicase comes and unwind the DNA duplex

DNA synthesis in Eukaryotes

Eukaryotic replication occurs during S phase of cell cycle

In the pre initiation process the replicator selection occurs.Selection of replicator is the process of identifying the sequence that will direct the initation of replication. This process led to the collection of multiple protein complex at each replicator . Once cell enters A phase and triggers the replicator associated protein complex to initiate the DNa unwinding and action of DNa polymerase.Pre RC are activated to initiate replication by two protein kinases namely Cdk ,Ddk.kinases is a protein that attach phosphate group to target protein .after the activation of kinases they target other Pre RC complex and replication phosphorylation of these pro reolireplic complex's result in assembly of additional replication protein in ori and initation of replication.
