Can someone help me answer this discussion forum. Please cite an sources in APA proper format and please have the answer so that I can understand it
Pro Week 3 Discussion Forum 28 days ago Filn Plants are one of the primary sources of organic carbon, fixed nitrogen, and oxygen. Explain the relationship of plants to organisms found in another kingdom (eg. Animalia, Fungi. Protista, Bacteria). Are there links between organisms in all the kingdoms? How does this underscore the importance of plants to us? Cur S TA Reply 0 replies Add your reply nce Go t MOC Your subiectExplanation / Answer
Plants act as autotrophs. This means they use light energy of sun, water and minerals from soil to prepare food in the form of organic compounds such as glucose. They form the basis of any food chain. They act as food source for animals (herbivores). Herbivores eat plants. These herbivores are eaten up by carnivores. Carnivores are the animals that eat herbivores. Hence plants form a supporting pillar to kingdom animalia. The oxygen released by plants during photosynthesis is used for respiration by animals. In turn carbon dioxide released by animals is used by plants for photosynthesis.
Many species of microorganism such as bacteria and fungi live in close association of plants in the root zone. They get nutrition from plants and help in fixation of gases such as nitrogen. Some saprophytic species feed on dead decaying leaves of plants and convert them into organic matter after decomposition and decay. Some fungi live inside the plant roots and help in getting nutrients for plants.
