Explanation / Answer

Hox paralogous group genes have specific roles in the axial patterning. These genes control the morphological features along regions of the vertebral column. So the activation and inactivation of these genes have an effect on the axial skeletal patterning. The Hox6 is indicated by red colour and the expression of Hox6 ectopically resulting in GOF shows ribs at cervical and lumbar levels and inactivation resulted in smaller rib cages and specific ribs are lost. So by the above phenotypes the role of Hox6 gene is to induce rib morphogenesis this promotes the expression in somites(each number of body segments) those generating the thoracic region. So Hox6 to induce the rib formation involves the stimulation of non-myogenic activity in the myogenic(originating in muscle tissue) genes they are Myf5 and Myf6 genes in the myotome(group of muscles) Then the myotome instructs the sclerotome(part of each somite in a vertebrate embryo which gives rise to skeletal tissues) So in this way Hox6 gene plays an important role in axial skeletal patterning.

Hox10 role is just negative to Hox6 gene. This blocks the expression in somites adjacent to hindlimb. It plays a role in rib blocking and inhibits the rib formation. So in Hox6 it involves stimulation of Myf5 and Myf6 but Hox10 genes prevents the stimulation of these genes and thereby it results in inhibting the formation of ribs.
