Explanation / Answer

FORUM 4 Short term damages includes

Inhaling hot air will lead to respiratory distress as it promotes inflammation in airways.

It may create a hyperthermia condition which inturn leads to increased heart beat and promotes rapid floob flow to the skin. Functioning of lungs decreses as a result of more oxygen demands of body.

Injury to pulmonary epithelium can lead to conditions such as disorders such as bronchilitis.

Long term damages includes

Decreased lung function can lead to hyperapnea which is rapid and deep breathing condition .

The irritants will cause conjuctivitis , bronchitis and alveolitis .

Interventions to stabilise the patient are

1. Carbon monoxide management- CO binds to haemoglobin and decreses the free Haemoglobin amount in blood, results in hypoxia like condition.

Administeration of 100% oxygen by using face masks should be done.

Beta agonists- or bronchodilators such as albuterol should be given to dilate respiratory airways as inhalation injury results in bronchoconstriction. It will promote relaxation of bronchial smooth muscles and has anti-inflammatory effects .

Mechanical ventilation should be provided.

Bronchoscopy to clear obstructions in the respiratory passageway.

Plan of recovery

2. Monitoring complications to avoid risk of developing respiratory disorders

Pulmonary status and gaseous exchange should be monitored regularly and revaluated .

Counselling and Education should be provided.

Traumatic brain injury

Prevention -

Regular exercise and nutritious diet

Installing safety gears and devices to avoid falls in case of seizures.

Use of shock absorbing materials on floors to avoid injury .

Clutter free floors , stairs and balcony.

Current treatment -

Trauma craniotomy (neurosurgery)

Anasthetic and analgesic management

Neurological assesment ( motor, verbal and eye)

Using vasopressure to regulate / increase cerebral perfusion pressure such as norepinephrine.

Fluid management e.g using crystalloids such as saline or infucing ringer's lactate .

Forum 6- obvious skin disorder such as Rosacea, Psoriasis

Supporting the person having this disorder includes

Educating them to avoid oily and junk food stuffs.
