Ethics in a professional environments:

This means that emplyees who follow moral principles and complies to company policies in the work place. It allows you to defferntiate between right and wrong.

I have my father in law who is in corporate for past 10 years and when I asked him to share some challenges faced on ethics at work place and how was it actually handled, he shared the following one with me:

Example: An employee in his team, who is a new joinee started coming to office a bit late and started speaking on calls instead being at the desk which made his tasks delayed once in every three deliverables, since he is pretty new no one actually took a note of it. Gradually this behavior increased and led to decline in hitting reputation. Then there existed a dilemma of how can we approach this situation as it not corrected from the start and if we point this now, employee will see that it is harsh on him.

Then my father in law wasz asked to attend this as he is serving as a team leader for this team.

Solution: He approached him with a note of all his delayed assignments post 1 year and also explained him the feedbacks receivied from various clients on him and on team due to this due every time. He shared his experience of a colleague who left this team due to this kinds of issue. He clearly said him that if you could increase your productivity it will surely increase the trust on you and followed by new joiners after you to make this team achieve its goals. He also suggested him to raise for help whenever there is any emergency deliverables come through your way, which helps us to deliver on time.

I would have handled the same way, just want to add one more point: I want him to keep a check on his time sheet which helps him to manage his work better.

Pros: Employee gets motivated to work. He came to know that there is a support from his team which is helping him to come out of this.

Cons: He might feel himself guilty and might loose trust on clients and will deliver it on time but might be a decrease in quality.
