Question

). If you sampled air for 15 minutes using a Via-Cell sampler connected to a pump with a flow rate of 4 liters per minute and ended up with 240 CFUs on your plate, then how many CFUs were present per liter of air? Other information you released the bacteria off of the filter into 3 ml of buffer, and plated a 0.1 ml aliquot of the 10-3 dilution. Don’t overthink the problem...it works exactly the same as the other you have completed, except that the final calculation to get to CFU/L is a little different. Please show work.

Explanation / Answer

Answer : flow of air 4 lits per minute

So in 15 mins total air pumped = 4*15= 60 lit

So in 60 lit of air produces 240 CFUs

So in 1 lit of air produces 240/60= 4 CFUs
