Q1) I found the answers for everything but not for the first part in part a.

----------------------------------

Q2)

You are deciding whether to buy a new car or two-year-old car (of the same make). Your decision will be based on which car will have cost you less when you resell it at the end of three years. Your cost consists of two parts: the loss in value of the car and repairs. A new car costs S22000 and loses 12% of its value each year. Repairs are S200 the first year and increase by 15% each subsequent year. For a new car, find the depreciation (loss of value) in dollars in the third year. For a new car, find the repair cost in dollars in the third year. Give a formula for rn, the repair cost in the nth year. This is not a series. Suppose the drug atenolol is taken in 25 mg doses once a day to lower blood pressure. At the end of a 24 hour period, approximately 7 % of the atenolol is still present. Find expressions for the quantities Q1, Q2, Q3, ..., and Qn, representing the amounts of atenolol in the body right after taking the 1st, 2nd, 3rd doses respectively. Then write the expression for Qn in closed-form. Find expressions for the quantities P2, P3, P4,. . and Pn representing the amount of atenolol in the body right before taking the 2nd, 3rd, 4th doses respectively. Then write the expression for Pn in closed-form.

Explanation / Answer

a. For iii year depn is 2044.42( we round off to 2 decimal places)

-------------------------------------

Q.2 ) Q1 = Q (the initial blood pressure)

       Q2 = Q(0.07)

       Q3 = Q(0.07)(0.07)

       Q4 = Q(0.07)(0.07)(0.07)

...

In general Qn = Q(0.07)n-1

------------------------------------------------

Q.3

P2 = before taking 2nd dosage = Q1 as before = Q(0.07)

P3 = Q(0.07)2

P4 = Q(0.07)3

...

Pn = Q(0.07)n-1   where Q = the level before first dosage.
