The subject discussed here is about ground water depletion on California and other parts of the World. As the population is growing farming is increasing to produce the food to meet the demands. Though we can increase crop lands area but we can’t increase groundwater potential.

Farmers are drilling more and more boreholes to deeper and deeper to pump water due to which the ground water aquifers depleting at a drastic level. The hydrogeologists shown about groundwater depletion in India, China, Turkey etc countries based on GRACE satellites studies as dark red spots. Continuous pumping of groundwater make ground to sink and many such sinking of ground evidences are witness in all over World.

The need of the time make groundwater policies to stop indiscriminate using of water and frame and follow the policies to save groundwater for future generations.

If I become a Governor of the State of California, I will order to make studies on groundwater depletion and make plans to save the groundwater at the same time providing planned groundwater to each farmer for agricultural purposes. There should norms to put distance between each borehole, depth to drill, quantity water pumped with each borehole and storing and recharging of rainwater.

Policies should be framed how much groundwater recharged each year and based on that how much each borehole to pump water. This will change indiscriminate pumping of groundwater. Policies will be made to store and recharge water at each farmland equal to their pumping water. Also made plans effect of droughts and to overcome groundwater plans during the drought period. The policies planned should be implemented strictly to protect groundwater. These policies will be the only way to solve groundwater depletion problem in California state.
