Being a romantic husband, last year i decided to give my wife all the gifts from the 12 days of christmas. On the first day, I gave her a partridge in a pear tree. On the second, I gave her two turtle doves, and a partridge in a pear tree. On the third day, I gave her three French hens, two turtle doves and a partridge in a pear tree. I kept going this way and trying to be extra romantic, I gave her, on the 13th day, 13 cats purring along with 12 drummers drumming. 11 pipers piping, etc. Our house was full of all kinds of folks and birds of different species along with 12 cats purring.
a) If the particular day was (x), derive a formular to determine the total number of that gift she had after it was all over. Example would be if x=12, your formular would give an answer of 24 since she recieved 12 drummers drumming on days 12 and 13.
b) what gift did i give for the first on the 9th day?
