Question

Paper Airplane The flight of a not so well designed paper airplane follows the path defined by the parametric equations, times = t- 3sint, y = 4- 3cost where times and y are in feet and tis in seconds, starting at t = 0 until it runs into the wall 10 seconds later. Determine how far the wall is from where the plane is launched. Determine at which times is the flight of the plane horizontal. Determine at which times the flight of the plane is vertical. Make a plot of the flight of the plane and indicate all of the points from A. - C.

Explanation / Answer

A.at t=0, x=0 at t=10s, thet find wall, puttting t=10, distance of wall can be found out.

so distance of wall= 10-3sin 10=11.63

B.)

flight is horizontal when vertical velocity is zero

vertical velocity=dy/dt=3sint=0 i.e. sint=0, t= npi sec.where n=0,1,,2,3....

C)flight is vertical when horizontal velocity is 0

i.e. dx/dt=1-3cost=0; cost= 1/3 all t satisfying this will be answer

D)

what is A ,C..from above solutio graph can be plotted easily.
