Explain your choice(s). 15 (2 Points). Circle the primary material or element that each of Earth's layers is made of Gust one answer per each layer; see also Question 4 above): Earth's crust is made of d) water a) Granite b) Muscovitoe c) Iron a) Limestone b) Basalt-Gabbro Earth's mantle is made of c) Silicon d) water Earth's core is made of a) Silicon b) Iron c) Biotite d Quartz

Explanation / Answer

Ans 12) We will find igneous rocks in all the terrestrial planets having a crust. The reason is that, at some point of time cooling of magma from the core must have taken place resulting in the formation of igneous rocks.

Ans 13) We will find sedimentary rocks in Earth.

For the formation of sediments, we need water.

Assuming that the ice on Mars might have been present in liquid form at some point of time, we can presume Mars to have sedimentary structures as well.

Ans 14) Earth only.

For metamorphosis of rocks, high pressure and temperature is required. This can only be provided by plate tectonics. As Earth is the only planet with active plate motions, metamorphic rocks are confined to this Planet.

Ans 15) Earths crust is made up of a)granite.

Earths mantle is made up of b) Basalt-Gabbro.

Earth's core is made up of b) Iron.

Explanation- The crust was formed of rhyolytic magma, thus forming extensive granite formations. The mantle is composed of basaltic magma, rich in Fe and Mg. The core is hot molten iron in motion(outer core) and solid iron(inner core).
