If the initial velocity is v0 feet per second, the path of the projectile is modeled by the parametric equations x t vo cos and y = h (vo sin )t-16t2. A rectangular equation for the path of this projectile is y = 8 + x-0·006x2 (a) Eliminating the parameter t from the position function for the motion of a projectile to shows that the rectangular equation is as follows -16 (sec( 16 (sec(e)-x2+tan()x + h (b) Find h, vo, and ' (Round your answers to two decimal places.) (Round your answers to two decimal places.) 50 ft What is the approximate range of the projectile? 164.9 ft 6/24/2016Explanation / Answer
The approximate range of the projectile is x co-ordinate on the graph where graph of the projectile cuts the x axis.
That is where the y co-ordinate =0.
Using graphing utility it comes as x = 174.3
or we can find out root for y = 8+x - 0.006x^2
one root is negative ( so rejected) and the other is x = 174.3
