Question
Hi, could you help me with this problem. I got parts a and c correct but I need to know how to get them. I definitely need the answer to part b though and how to solve it. I said 20 but that obviously is wrong. An answer to all the parts would be ideal. Thank you so much for your help.
The length (in centimeters) of a typical Pacific halibut t yr old is given approximately by the following. f(t) = 240(1 - 0.945e^-0.24t) (a) What is the length of a typical 9-yr-old Pacific halibut? cm (b) How fast is the length of a typical 9-yr-old Pacific halibut increasing? cm/yr (C) What is the maximum length a typical Pacific halibut can attain? cmExplanation / Answer
a) we need f(9)
we get
f(9) = 240(1- 0.945e-0.24*9) = 240 -26.1557374514 = 213.85 = 214
b)
differnetiating w.r.t ' t' we get
df/dt = 0.945 * 0.24 * e-0.24t
for t =9
we get
=240* 0.02615573745 = 6.277cm/yr
c) maximum length will be obtained at t= infinity
we get
f = 240(1 - 0) =240 years
