Take a stand! Select one of the three statements below to comment on this week. After reading all three statements, choose one (in subject box use: live, jobs or meat). a) tell whether you strongly agree, agree, disagree or strongly disagree with the statement, and b) give several reasons why. Think about how it will affect other people in the world. There are many relevant statistics found in chapter 7 that can support your choice. (Or you could revisit chapter 1.) In your post you must c) include a fact or statistic discussed in this or a previous chapter that is relevant to your stand. Include the page number in parenthesis where your information came from. As always, post your initial response by Friday at midnight or one point will be deducted for each day after 1) In a real crunch, jobs are more important than environmental quality. 2) In an effort to feed a growing population, people in developed countries should drastically reduce the amount of meat they eat. 3) Because we live in one of the richest countries in the world, we should allow all those from other nations that wish to, to live here in the United States.Explanation / Answer
1) In this era of neck to neck competition it seems like jobs are more important than the environment but I’m disagree with this statement as with jobs itself we can do so much to protect our environment and hence we can go for sustainable development. For example we can do car pooling, we can use more of paper bag, recycle things, turn of lights when not in use and hence by doing this we don’t even conserve our environment but we are also making our jobs easier and affordable.
2) Again I’m disagree with the statement because even we control our eating habit then even we won’t be doing something for the underdeveloped nations instead we should stop wasting in our plates, we should go vegetarian atleast for some days in a week as this will help in keeping the balance of green house gas as meat produce a lot of green house gas, by doing these methods we can work for the underdeveloped nations.
3) I’m strongly disagree with this statement as this will make conditions very poor instead we should work for the development and upliftment of the underdeveloped nations by providing them financial aid, medicinal aid, technological aid to make their economy more effective.
