Explanation / Answer

12)

Boreal Forest - Many plant species are found in the Boreal forest or taiga, but coniferous trees are the dominant plant form. These trees shed snow easily, and they retain their needles through the winter. The needles themselves are well-adapted, with thick waxy coatings and small surface area, to resist cold conditions and minimize water loss, an important consideration even in the swampy taiga where water may be frozen much of the year.Important conifer types include firs and pines (right, with the fir on the left of the image and the pine on the right), spruces, hemlocks, and larches.

13)

Nearctic = The Nearctic realm covers most of North America, including Greenland, Central Florida, and the highlands of Mexico. The parts of North America that are not in the Nearctic realm are Eastern Mexico, Southern Florida, Central America

14)

Is too saline to be used for drinking = Fossil water can potentially dissolve and absorb a number of ions from its host rock. Salinity in groundwater can be higher than seawater. In some cases, some form of treatment is required to make these waters suitable for human use. Saline fossil aquifers can also store significant quantities of oil and natural gas.

15)

Continental Polar = Air Mass that is having cold temperatures and little moisture. Those who live in northern portions of the United States expect cold weather during the winter months. These conditions usually result from the invasion of cold arctic air masses that originate from the snow covered regions of northern Canada
