Write your answers in decimal form, rounded to the nearest thousandth.Explanation / Answer
Solution :
From given table,
a) P(has a red car) = 310 / 562 = 0.552
b) P(has a speeding ticket) = 343 / 562 = 0.610
c) P(speeding ticket | red car) = 184 / 310 = 0.594
d) P(red car | speeding ticket) = 184 / 343 = 0.536
e) P(red car and speeding ticket) = 184 / 562 = 0.327
f) P( red car or speeding ticket)
= P(red car) + P(sppeding ticket) - P(red car and sppeding ticket)
= 310 / 562 + 343 / 562 - 184 / 562
= (310 + 343 - 184) / 560
= 469 / 560
= 0.838
