Question

1. Construct a P-nodal diagram for the March 13, 1992 Erzincan earthquake using a stereonet (lower hemisphere projection). Use the fault plane solution to determine the type of the fault and the possible fault location of the earthquake. The earthquake of March 13, 1992 (Ms 68) occurred in the densely populated Erzincan region of eastern Turkey. It resulted in about 500 deaths, at least 2000 injuries, and widespread destruction of buildings. The main area of surface deformation is about 55 km2 in extent and lies 15 km south-east of Erzincan. Surface fractures with significant displacements were observed with orientations as follows: strike-slip 095- 110° (dextral), 040 (sinistral), 090 (sinistral), and extensional 150-180°
