At the 5 percent level of significance, is the true mean smallerthan the specification? Clearly state your hypothesis and decisionrule.

The choices are:

A. Ho: > or equal to 18, reject Ho if t > -1.74
B. H1: < 18, reject H1 if t > -1.74
C. Ho: > or equal to 18, reject Ho if t < -1.74
D. H1: < 18, reject H1: if t < -1.74

Question two is from the same problem:

Explanation / Answer

hypothesis would be Ho: > or equal to 18, reject Ho if t < -1.74 question 2. = 0.01 this is one tail distribution degree of freedom (df) =n-1 = 18-1 = 17 hence critical t value from table = 2.567 calculated t = (17.78-18)/(0.41/18) =2.28 since the calculated t is less than the critical t hence wereject the null hypothesis and accept the alternatehypothesis.
