The point of the Venn diagram is to emphasize that a lot ofyour events overlap with each other. . If 35% of the runners took more than 3 hours, then 65% tookLESS than 3 hours. . 40% took less than 2 hours. But notice that every one ofthose people ALSO finished in less than 3 hours. There are 2types of people who finished in less than 3 hours: those whofinished in less than 2 hours, and those who finished in between 2and 3 hours. Of our 65 percentage points worth of people whotook less than 3 hours, 40 percentage points of them took less than2 hours. How many does that leave to finish in between 2hours and 3 hours?
