2. Limestone is the type of carbonate and contains calcite, aragonite and dolomite. Sandstone, on the other hand consists of sand sized debris and often includes quartz,feldspar, mica and shells.
From appearance Limestone does not have the stratification pattern and sandstone do has it. There are limestone composed of organic material which is clearly visible. Sandstone is formed from the breakdown of larger rocks due to weathering and erosion biologically.
