The given figure shows that the percentage of nursing home residents for three age groups-under 65 years, 65-74 and 75-84 has been declined from 1985 to 1999. The decrease in percentage for the three age groups are 16.24%, 15.49% and 6.74%. The percentages show that there has been slow decrease in percentage of nursing home residents for age group under 65 and 65-74 during the tenure, whereas, there has been steep decrease in nursing home stay for age group 75-84 during the period. But for age group 75-84 there has been 15% increase in nursing home residents during 1985-1999. These results has several implications, which can be summarized as follows:
1. there is no immediate need for expansion as only for the age group, there has been increase in percentage of nursing home stay of residents.
2. as far as changes are concerned, one can arrange for facilities to serve to older most group if the need be.
Time trend is signficant. Looking after the table on ecan estimate that after ten years, the age of the population of nursing home is supposed to be 75-84 (7% of the population) and after twenty years, the age of population of nursing home will be 65-74 (5.2% of the population).
