Choose a research topic that interests you and develop a hypothesis. Answer the following items, which should be part of your research plan:

1.Identify the target population and accessible population addressed by your research hypothesis.

2.Describe the sampling method you will use. If you plan to use a combined sampling method, then identify each method you plan to combine. Make sure you identify exactly your procedure for selecting participants.

3.Explain how the sample you select is, or is not, representative of the target population.

Explanation / Answer

Suppose we want to test whether average test scores in mathematics of two different classes of same standard in a school are same or not. Suppose the classes are denoted by Class A and Class B.

1) Here the target Population is the students from both the class who attended the test. We have to access their scores in the test.

2) In order to select the students from both the classes, we will use Simple random sampling without replacement technique. Suppose each class strength is 100 and we want to select 20 students from each class. Students are selected using random number table and their scores are noted.

3) The sample is a good representative of the target population as we are selecting the samples randomly. Also we draw sufficient number of samples in order to avoid small sample biasness. Also since we use without replacement technique, no student has been selected twice.
