The correlation coefficient for these two variables is -.7918. Is this result surprising to you? Why or why not?

Explanation / Answer

a)

p - value of the slope is 0.000 < 0.10. So slope is significant at 0.10 significance level. T ratio is negative because slope coeeficient is negative.

b)

Correlation should be negative as the slope coefficient is negative and it absolute value should be equal to sqrt(R-sqre) = sqrt(0.627) = 0.7918.

So the result is not surprising.
