Since the condition is aerobic and electron acceptors are added continuously in the chemostat which makes the condition oxidizing, the process of sulfate reduction will be promoted and nitrate reduction process will decelerate. That is because nitrate reduction process occurs best in anaerobic conditions while sulfate reduction in aerobic oxidizing condition. Sulfate reducing bacteria will remain in the chemostat for long term.
