As we all know, climate change (global warming) is a very hotly debated topic in today's times. Is it occurring? Do you think it is occurring? Is it harmful or helpful to our planet?  is "global warming" occurring or not? If it is occurring, are humans responsible for it? Is that a bad thing as the media says or are humans using the resources given to us? Has it happened in the past on earth? Have CO2 concentrations been elevated in the geologic past? What are some possible solutions or adaptations that we as humans can make or should we?

Yes, Global warming is a serious consequence of climate change and is definitely occurring as noticed by the melting of the polar ice caps and the rise in sea levels. Due to global warming the average temperature of the earth has increased to approximately 0. 7o Celcius. Humans are responsible for global warming as they burn fossil fuels, are extensively practicing deforestation and using chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) releasing gases such as carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide and methane into the atmosphere. These gases trap heat and thus warm the earth's atmosphere. The media are right in reporting it as a bad consequence of human activities. It has happened in the past wherein the CO2 levels elevated however this was much before the existence of humans. The possible solutions or adaptations that we as humans can make are stop deforestation on a large scale, use alternate sources of fuels instead of burning fossil fuels and eliminate the use of aerosols and CFCs.
