Use the following scenario to answer all questions
Susie teaches a fourth grade science class. She wants to get a better idea of how much the students are learning in her class. This year, she has decided to give her students a baseline test (test 1) at the beginning-of-the fall semester and another test at the end-of-the semester (test 2).

4.If Suzie believes students will perform better on the second test, what is the one-tailed H1?
5.What level of significance would you select for this problem (state both and confidence intervals)? Use the level of significance that is typical in education research.
6.If Susie analyzes using a computer program and the value in the “Sig.” box is .040, did she reject or fail-to-reject the HO? Assume the confidence intervals from question #5.
7.If Susie undertakes this research and finds there is a difference between the mean scores of test 1 and test 2, when there in fact is no difference, what type of error occurred?

1) Test score of test 1 and test score average of test 2 are being compared.
2) H0: Students perform equally good in both tests. Thus, means for both tests are equal.
3) H1: Means for both tests are not equal.
4) H1 for one tail: 2 > 1
That is, Average scores on 2nd test > avg scores on 1st test.
