Question
Directional drilling is much more than simply selecting a well path and hole angle. It includes selecting the most appropriate survey techniques, defining the best control tools, researching applicable government regulations, and gathering pertinent geological data. By considering the following aspects explain how these factors affecting your directional drilling choice to apply a proper technique to achieve your target. i. Reasons for use directional drilling technique. ii. Problems associated with directional drilling. iii. All variables required for directional well planning. iiii. Oil well Production. v. Formation hardness vi. With the help of sketch drawing, the Drill string Considerations plays an important role in the directional drilling. ? vii. Errors associated with taking a survey. viii. With the help of sketch drawing, techniques are used for allowing the wellbore path to drift into the target? ( Directional drilling is much more than simply selecting a well path and hole angle. i) Reasons to choose directional drilling over vertical drilling-
ii) Problems faced during directional drilling are -
iii) We need surveying tools like Measurement while drilling (MWD) , Gyro measurement while drilling etc for the calculation of wellbore position and to get magnetic interference measurement respectively.
Several other components is needed to keep in mind for the estimation of the dugging up of well like the average angle , minimum curvature or others like tangential method for the bottom hole location.
iv) An oil well is a boring in the ground to bring petroleum oil hydrocarbons to the surface. A well that is designed to produce mainly or only gas may be termed a gas well.
For a production well, the target is picked to optimize production from the well and manage reservoir drainage.
v) In harder formation - there is a slight change in the approach as in this the drill motor replaces the jetting assembly and the hydraulic pressure is used to drive the turbine which rotates the bit that ultimately helps in drilling the desired part.
vii)Errors with the survey -
