3. Explain the difference between the 2 major groups of dinosaurs, saurischians and ornithischians, and give an example of each.?
4. Consider the effect of Plate motion on the evolution and distribution of plants and animals. Explain some of the ways that the evidence of the fossil record can be affected by these processes and give an example if you can. 3. Explanation / Answer

3)- Saurischians and ornithischains were two major group of dinosaurs that emereged 30 million years after the extinction of the permian triassic event. These two groups had a number of difference anatomically, basically classified by theor pelvis structure.

Saurichian had a hip structure resembling to the lizard and hence they were named as lizard hips. The ornithischain group had hip structure similar to modern day bird and hence thename befall into bird hipped. The pelvic structure of the saurischain is triradiate and that of ornithischain is tetraradiate pelvis with the pubis pointing backwards.

Also fossil provided that ornithischain were primarily herbivores an saurischain order were both herbivore and carnivores dinosaurs. Herrarasaurs, eoraptor and plateosaurus are example of three early saurischain dinosaurs . Heterodontosaurus tucki ( a heterodontosaurid) is an example of ornithischain group .

4)- There are some same fossil distributed and found in very widely seperated geographical location. This is one of the reason to prove that today's landmass was once a single super continent ,which slowly parted due to plate motions or the continental drift. Fossils are records of species that were alive during the formation of rocks and can be used to study how different species evolve. Tectonic plates are at constant movement either convergingor diverging. Such activity has both pro and con on affecting the fossil records. Positively affecting, hidden fossil stored very deep can be evident ;and on the negative side they can destroy the fossil record stored deep within.
