X+2Y = 8......................* 5

Multiplying above eqn by 5

5X+10Y = 40..............(1)

Substract eqn 2 from eqn 2 , the above equation

Y = 5

and X= 8-2Y = 8-2*5 = -2

Answer X = -2, Y = 5
