The main two types of weathering are PHYSICAL WEATHERING and CHEMICAL WEATHERING.
1) PHYSICAL WEATHERING - Disintegration of rocks and mineral by physical or mechanical process.
a) Development of joints- Jonits form as a result of expansion due to cooling or relief of pressure as overlying rocks are removed by erosion.
b) Crystal growth- As water percolates through fracture and pore spaces it may contain ion that precipitate to form crystals.
c) Frost - When water freezes it expands 9% of its volume. In nature water enter into cracks of the rock. Upon freezing it expands and exert great pressure on the wall of rock.
2- CHEMICAL WEATHERING - Chemical weathering or decomposition is a process in which rock are broken down by chemical decay of minerals
a) Water- water us main agent of chemical weathering. Although water in pure form is inactive. The main chemical reactions involved in chemical weathering is oxidation, hydration, carbonation, solution etc

c) i- SUBMERGED COAST - The shoreline are formed when either the coastal land have subside relative to the sea level or the sea level has risen with respect to the coastal lands.
ii) Breakwater - it is defined as the construction as barrier that break the force of wave.
iii) A tide in which the difference between high and low tide is least. It occure when sun and moon are at right angle to earth in twice a month.
