the distance to that civilisation is 100light years, which means that if we send a message it will take 100 years to reach there and an another 100 year for the reply to reach us, and hence 200 year for one communication. so it is better to ask about the life forms present in the civilization and about the atmosphere, so that we can get a clear idea about the type of planet, whether it is Earth like or not. this basic idea about the exoplanets will answer our search for life outdside earth.
