Explanation / Answer
2. The environmental atlas is being created to record, analyse and alert the people in the globe for the illegal mining, land grabbing and other environmental related issues that has been prevailing for years. The group of people who were doing this mpas were environmental activists and social groups. They are Grains, Latin American observatory for mining disputes, World Rainforest movement. The other map called unconventional enregy exploration was prepared by friends of earth - europe. 3. South American Mining dispute is identified in the atlas, which explains that the people were protesting against the illegal land grabbing, supression from the government to leave the land, pollution problems due to mining, breathing problems and other health related issues that were widely reported throughout the country. Mining companies were occupying lands for busniess motives and civilians are losing their native lands. Moreover, they are all highly affected with diseases due to inhalation of toxic gases. Protestors demands are to stop the mining operations. But it is not possible to reconcile because of the lenient approach that the country follows to allow private companies to carry out the mining process. Due to depletion of unconventional resources, private companies are looking for underground power resources like methane, hydrocarbon, shale gas exploration. Because of this exploration, fracking methods are used to dig into the earth to explore the gases and extract it. Because of process, air is getting polluted and people face skin related problems and global heat is increasing. This is the reason behind the protests and people were stopped by the government to protest and raise voices against the private fracking companies. The demand that the protestors were making are that the fracking process should be stopped so that the pollution related problems can be reconciled. But it is impossible for them to reconcile because of the economic policy that the ruling party have.
